Aol. revamped?

Recently, the internet service provider American Online has decided to overhaul its brand identity in order to separate itself from Time Warner.  The new series of logos showcase what looks to be common stock images with the “AOL” type in lower case San Serif.

According to Tim Armstrong, Chairman and CEO of Aol:

“Our new identity is uniquely dynamic. Our business is focused on creating world-class experiences for consumers and AOL is centered on creative and talented people – employees, partners, and advertisers.”

It’s hard to say whether this is a step forward or back for Aol, design-wise.  Visually, the logos leave more to be desired.
