Ghost Village

Here is an interesting trailer for a documentary found on Ogilvy Amsterdam’s blog. The GhostVillage Project was a 3 day project where six street artists where given the license to have their creative imaginations run a muck on an abandoned village located on a remote island off the western coast of Scotland.  The village was constructed in the 70′s for miners to lodge while dredging for oil, but the project never came to fruition.  The release date for this documentary is yet to be known, but you can check out the Agents of Change Flickr site for a set of brilliant photos taken during the project.

Client/Agency

client-agency

In the Ad industry, building a strong client/agency relationship is one of the most important factors in being successful and productive on both sides.  Striking a balance between client needs and agency needs/creativity can be an arduous, almost impossible task, but it is necessary for the progression of both parties.  Essentially, It all boils down to is compromise.  Both the client and agency must be able to communicate openly with each other and understand the needs and objectives of one another.  Now with that said, check out this satirical video about dealing with client/agency relationships in everyday situations.

With the first Superbowl of the new decade just two weeks away, researchers are predicting that this Superbowl will one for the ages, but not for the gameplay.  IBISworld is predicting this year’s game will exceed 100 million viewers.  This is great news for the advertising industry because the Superbowl is well known for its new, outrageous, and also expensive halftime commercials.

The Charlotte ADDYS

addys_blog

Last week was hectic with the Charlotte ADDY Awards approaching, every agency in Charlotte scrambling to get their years best work in the competition.  It was well worth the work because last night the AAF Charlotte held a special pre-show exhibition at the Mint Museum of the work that was entered.  After viewing everyone’s work, its going to be extremely tough on the judges this year because everyone submitted some extraordinary pieces.  This years ADDY Awards will be interesting to say the least.

Maker’s HQ

Tattoo traveled to Loretto, Kentucky to the Maker’s Mark Headquarters yesterday to meet about a new business venture.  During the stay in Loretto, Tattoo was able to tour the Maker’s distillery to see how exactly this fine Kentucky Bourbon is created.  One thing we found particularly interesting was the Sour Mash Vat (image to the right).  Sour Mash is the process in the distilling industry that uses material from an older batch of mash to start fermentation in the batch currently being made, similar to the making of sourdough bread.

Naked Coke Cans

350x_ecocan01

In an attempt to keep with the current “Go Green” trend, Jesus Diaz over at Gizmodo proposed the idea if Coca-Cola were to not paint their soda cans, it would make a quite significant improvement in improving air quality and pollution as well as saving energy.  To put this into perspective, Coca-Cola sells approximately 24 billion units annually.  The amount of paint it takes to cover all of the cans must be in insurmountable proportions.  Check out the rest of the article here.

Some strong stuff

Here is a pretty clever and funny ad that involves one strong mouse.  It’s for Nolan Cheese, and just when you think the video takes a sad turn for the worst, sorry this mouse isn’t ready to throw in the towel yet.  This is pretty cool and creative and had us cracking up over here.  Take a peep because it’s pretty cool.

We get it Poppin’

popcorn

Ok maybe we don’t, but our new kick ass popcorn machine does.  Tattoo needed something new in the office to take us to that other level kind of status, and yes it’s a popcorn machine.  It serves us two purposes: 1. It makes the best popcorn on planet earth 2. Our office just smells delicious.  On another note, we don’t eat it the normal way, we just pour it in our mouths from high distances.  Who knows what’s next, maybe a cotton candy machine?  Pretty soon we are going to start charging admission to enter.

Glass Art

Probably one of the cooler videos seen since the new year, a public art website out of Spain suso33 posted a video of an artist created some cool art with markers on glass.  It is amazing how fast the artist draws on the glass and the precision he uses to construct the image you see in the video.  Check out more similar videos are the suso33 website.  You can also view different types of street art at Wooster Collective
