Do you facebook and tweet at work?
Social media has changed every business and industry in some way, shape or form whether we’re talking the food industry, retail industry, or the advertising industry (especially the advertising). Twitter, facebook, myspace, and blogs have become such a key component for companies they have basically taken over as the “company communicator.” There is nothing wrong with this picture especially in today’s world…as long as companies are careful not to let social media disrupt any other form of communication and reputation for the company.
If companies use any form of social media, it’s important to stay up to date because social media is always changing. For example, starting today Twitter will drop advertising into users’ Twitter streams. Starbucks, Virgin, and Red Bull have already put ads in this new service. These ads will appear in steams whether that individual is a follower of that particular advertiser.
This is a great way for companies to take advantage of something that a majority of today’s population uses weekly, if not daily, to get their business and brand known by the public. There are so many creative ways to use social media as a way of advertising, and companies should use this and run with it.
