We have received a 2009 best of business award, from the Small Business Commerce Association, for the best tattoo parlor in Charlotte!!! Even though we leave lasting and permanent impressions on people, Tattoo Advertising has never picked up an actual tattoo gun. We are really thankful for the award, because we like awards over here at Tattoo.
Sometimes we get the occasional call or walk in customer who is ready for that tattoo they have been thinking about, sorry everyone but we are merely in the business of tattooing your brains.

Tattoo is having fun working on some projects with contributor Rich Nadworny, of Digalicious. He’s a Digital Strategist with over 12 years experience in leading online programs. He has helped develop digital strategies for clients including Unicel, Stowe Mountain Resort, Time Warner, Crane & Co., and Sharp Electronics Corporation. Rich has led work that has won Webbys, WebAwards, and Adobe Sites of the Day, among others; his work has also been featured in Communication Arts magazine. He is a member of the International Academy for Visual Artists and judges the W3, WebAwards, Davey, Mobius, and MITX awards. Read some of his musings about the interactive world here.

Creativity reports that agency “Fallon solicited its present staff and alumni to cement their place in history by contributing awards won to be eventually melted into one solid metal mural for a project called ‘You Are Fallon.’” We have always been big fans of sharing, and giving awards away to our folks. Awards are great to get, but they can’t help but divide agency creatives and wage silent, competitive, internal war. Putting them all in one big pot and melting them down is a great way to let everybody in the agency share the love. I also particularly like the fact that the creative who hatched the idea for the project declined to be named. That’s cool.

Gotta love Diablo Cody, who took Best Original Screenplay at the Oscars last night. It was the former exotic dancer’s first time at the Oscars — as she waltzed in and took home the hardware for her screenplay, “Juno”. I know that everyone raved about the movie’s fast-paced, witty dialog. But it felt like Napoleon Dynamite on girl steroids, and certainly took awhile for it to grow on me. (My favorite Junoism: “Do me a solid.”) Anyway, you’ve gotta love Diablo Cody for her colorful creativity, and for being able to pack in such sheer volume of aphorisms into such a short window of time. Our own Rudy Banny is just back from West Palm Beach. No, he wasn’t there for the 80 degree weather, the beach right outside his hotel window, or even the fab company. He was there to judge the ADDY Awards for The Advertising Federation of the Greater Palm Beaches. The winners will be announced February 23rd — just about the time his tan will start to fade. Wonder if they’ll need judges in Cabo anytime soon?
