Gotta love Diablo Cody, who took Best Original Screenplay at the Oscars last night. It was the former exotic dancer’s first time at the Oscars — as she waltzed in and took home the hardware for her screenplay, “Juno”. I know that everyone raved about the movie’s fast-paced, witty dialog. But it felt like Napoleon Dynamite on girl steroids, and certainly took awhile for it to grow on me. (My favorite Junoism: “Do me a solid.”) Anyway, you’ve gotta love Diablo Cody for her colorful creativity, and for being able to pack in such sheer volume of aphorisms into such a short window of time. Emma Clarke, the voice of the Tube in London has been fired for saying negative things about the underground transportation system. If you’ve ridden the Tube, you’ve heard her– reminding you to “Mind the gap”. Apparently, she doesn’t use the Tube– saying it would a “dreadful” experience for her to hear herself. And apparently, the LU would rather use a voice talent that actually endorses the product. Go figure.
You’re an affluent woman with an education. You enjoy your Starbucks, your job, and the random trip to your gourmet grocery store. Your makeup probably doesn’t come from Rite-Aid, and your hair-color and skin-care regimes rank right up there in importance alongside your house payment. You open up Elle and here’s what you see. Okay, so what do you think? Would you buy this product? Reply to me directly at buf...@tattooprojects.com.
Here’s a cool mobile campaign founded on something the phone is used for, anyway. The campaign utilizes the large digital screens in Hong Kong International Airport, to let travelers say goodbye to loved ones by using their mobile phones to post photos of themselves with goodbye messages on the big screens. Created by Hyperfactory, on behalf of Motorola.
I avoid walking under ladders, never toast with water, and am even known to throw salt over my shoulder now and again. I braced myself, ready for the luck that was sure to come my way on this 7/7/7, the Luckiest Day of the Year.?Ǭ† I came up snake-eyes. On the other hand, it was a great day for my dog, Blue. A bird flew over us while we were on our morning walk. Blue jumped up in the air and caught the bird in one clean mouthful. Now that was PURE 7-7-7.?Ǭ†?Ǭ† For those of you who didn’t catch a bird in your mouth today: We are capable of creating our own reality– of using the things the universe puts in our path, no luck necessary.
We’ve all gotten them– those crafty emails from ailing millionaires who need your help sending their money to various charities. These emails usually start with “Greetings, In Jesus’ Name!” or something equally friendly. These Scammers cheat people out of $$millions every year, apparently. Here’s where the fun comes in: a group of vigilantes known as Scambaiters make it their job to hook the Scammers, and to use up as much of their time and resources as possible– ultimately saving lots of people from falling victim to email scams. (Scambaiters are kind of like matadors. Or rodeo clowns. Either way, they’re very entertaining.) Check out this video, created by Scammers who fell victim to Scambaiters. Obviously, you CAN scam the Scammer. (confused? this should clear it up.)
This video collaboration technology from HP makes holding meetings in Second Life seem so 1982. Named “Halo” (works for me, because it does appear to be heaven-sent), the technology allows people in different locations to see each other (life-size) and communicate in real time. Used in the making of Shrek, here’s what they have to say about it: “With the Halo video collaboration solution, an animation team sitting in a Halo room in Redwood City can meet with a team sitting in another Halo room in Glendale, as if they are all sitting around the same conference table. As part of this striking visual effect, images appearing on the video screen in front of participants in both locations are sharp and full size, creating an experience that is both virtual and natural.” Yours for only $500k x2, plus $18k per month. Where do I sign?
